Flawless Code, Shattered Trust

I walked in on my attending kissing the patient's husband in the supply closet. The same patient

I'd been caring for all week while she fought sepsis. My brain froze. He saw me,

put his finger to his lips. Two hours later, she coded. I'm running compressions,

he's calling it, and I'm staring at him thinking about what I saw. We got her back.

She's stable now. But here's what keeps me up at night. He made every right call during that

code. Flawless. So do his personal choices matter if he's still the best

doctor in the room when it counts? Does being a good physician erase being a questionable
