France’s Paperless ANEF Residence Permits

Moving to France as an EU citizen just became completely paperless. The new ANEF portal

lets you skip the prefecture lines and apply for your residence permit directly online.

Even if you do not have a foreign number yet, you just sign up with your email

to start the five-step process. You will need to upload digital copies of your ID,

proof of address, and documents showing your relationship to your host in France.

It covers everyone from spouses of French nationals to students. Once you hit submit,

you track every update from your phone until your digital decision letter arrives.
