From Type 2 to Type 1 Diabetes

My name is Mark Rixon and this is my story. Just over two years ago,

I developed type 2 diabetes, and so I completed the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding

the Causes and Management of Diabetes provided by Free Courses in England. The course covered

both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and at the time, I thought the Type 1 information was

interesting, but probably not something I would ever need. How wrong I was.

Just after completing the course, I ended up in hospital with a growth in my pancreas.

Fortunately, the growth was treatable and I had my pancreas removed. I remember lying

in a hospital bed and being told that because my pancreas was removed, I would now be treated
