leader of the Ilocos rebellion—was assassinated, Gabriela didn't grieve—she took command!

This absolute icon put on her husband's uniform and personally led thousands of Ilocano troops into

battle, including a famous siege of Vigan! The Spanish called her 'La Generala'

and were terrified of her ferocity and skill. Captured and publicly executed at just

32, she became the Joan of Arc of the Ilocos, and her martyrdom fueled the independence

movement for centuries! She proved that a revolution’s heart beats hardest in a woman's chest!
