Why do some stairs feel... wrong? Your body expects a rhythm,
like a steady beat. Every step is made of two parts:
rise and tread. The rule: two times riser plus tread equals twenty-five inches.
It works because it matches your natural walking stride. Steep stairs use high risers and
very short treads. Your brain predicts the next step. If it is off,
you feel it. Why are they steep? Usually, it is just
to save floor space. True comfort is about perfect proportion and consistency.
So... are the stairs steep, or just the wrong geometry?
