The reason you live where you live is actually just geography controlling your life.
If you look at a human footprint map of the Eastern US, it is not random
at all. That massive dark streak from Boston to DC exists solely because flat land
and deep harbors made trade easy. Meanwhile, the Appalachian Mountains are basically
empty because building there was a nightmare. Pittsburgh blew up because of coal, and Miami is packed
because of the weather. We literally just follow the path of least resistance. We think we chose
our cities, but really the rivers and rocks chose them for us.
