Germanwatch has officially released the Climate Risk Index for twenty twenty-six. It ranks countries
by the human and economic toll of extreme weather events. Introduced in two
thousand and six, this index serves as a global climate impact benchmark. Between nineteen ninety-five
and twenty twenty-four, nearly ten thousand extreme weather events occurred. These caused over
eight hundred thousand deaths and four point five trillion dollars in damages. India specifically ranked
fifteenth in the two thousand and twenty-four index report. For the long-term period since nineteen
ninety-five, India holds the ninth position. The nation faced four hundred thirty
events, resulting in one hundred seventy billion dollar losses. Over the last
