The Russia Ukraine conflict didn't just disrupt wheat exports. It exposed how fragile our entire
global supply chain really is. In 2022, bread prices in Egypt jumped fifty
percent almost overnight. Together, these two countries supply thirty percent of the world's
wheat. The result was cost push inflation cascading across all of Europe.
Fertilizer shortages quickly spread through every single food chain. Germany saw industrial production costs triple
in several key sectors. India banned exports, breaking traditional trade theories in an
instant. Economic theory has met harsh reality, and reality always wins.
