God Will Provide

Genesis 22 is one of the most intense stories in the Bible. God tells Abraham to take his son

Isaac—the son he waited decades for—and offer him as a sacrifice. Abraham doesn’t argue.

Early the next morning, he obeys and begins the journey. As they walk up the mountain,

Isaac notices something’s missing. He asks, “Where is the lamb for the offering?”

And Abraham answers with faith that goes deeper than understanding: Abraham said,

“God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” At the

last moment, as Abraham raises the knife, God stops him. A ram appears,
