Greed as Idolatry: A Biblical Perspective

The Bible says greed is the same as worshipping an idol. That’s a wild thought, right?

But it comes straight from Colossians 3:5. The verse tells us to "put to death"

the parts of our earthly nature. It lists things you might expect, like sexual immorality,

impurity, and lust. But then it hits you with "greed, which is idolatry."

It re-frames our constant desire for more—more money, more stuff, more status—as a

form of worship. It's saying that when we chase those things above all else,

they become our god. It's a tough pill to swallow, but it makes you

stop and think. What are you really serving? What truly has your heart?
