Haunted by a Classroom Mistake

Seven years ago at school, I embarrassed myself bad. This memory still

randomly pops into my head. I was sitting in class, feeling confident

for once and trying to sound smart, so I raised my hand and said something without thinking.

I confidently answered the question… completely wrong. The teacher just stared at me,

the whole class went quiet, and then someone laughed. I remember wishing

the ground would just open up and swallow me. It’s been seven years now,

and realistically nobody else remembers this moment — except me, because for some

reason my brain loves replaying it at 3 a.m.
