“This man fell from the sky… and somehow lived.” A man once fell from 10,000 meters
in the air — that’s higher than most airplanes fly — and he had no parachute.
At that height, the human body should not survive. The speed alone is usually fatal.
But what saved him was a perfect chain of unlikely events. First, he didn’t hit the
ground directly. He crashed through thick tree branches, which slowed his fall piece by piece
instead of all at once. Each branch absorbed part of the impact. Then,
beneath the trees, there was deep, soft snow. The snow compressed under his body,
