Healing Through Silence

It had been six months since the breakup, six long months of pretending she

was fine and convincing herself she didn’t care anymore. Then, out of nowhere,

her phone lit up at 11:47 PM — his name on the screen, the text reading, “Hey,

just wanted to check in.” Her heart dropped. She stared at it, typing and deleting a dozen different

replies: “I’m good, hope you’re doing well.” Delete. “Why now?” Delete. “I miss you too.”

Delete. In the end, she didn’t send anything. Not because she

didn’t care, but because for the first time, she finally cared about herself.

Sometimes healing isn’t saying goodbye — it’s simply not replying
