Before Europeans arrived, Native Americans lived across the vast American continent. They belonged to

many tribes and survived through farming, hunting, and trade. In 1492,

Christopher Columbus reached America, marking the start of European arrival. People from England,

Spain, France, and the Netherlands began settling the land.

By the 1700s, Britain had established thirteen colonies under its imperial rule. The British government

imposed heavy taxes and unfair laws on the colonies. On July 4, 1776,
