H&M's Ethical Dilemma in China

Hi everyone. In this video, I’m discussing the Sage Business Case titled Building

Ethical Supply Chains: The Case of H&M in China. The case looks at how H&M,

a global fast-fashion retailer, became involved in a major ethical and political conflict

after speaking out about forced labor concerns in China’s Xinjiang region. The core of the

case is that H&M publicly stated it would no longer source cotton from Xinjiang due to

reports of forced labor involving Uyghur minority groups. After that statement

resurfaced online, China reacted strongly by removing H&M from digital maps, blocking its products

from e-commerce sites, and encouraging widespread boycotts. This created a direct
