Home Safety Broadcast Test

The tape begins with a weather alert tone. But there’s no storm listed.

A calm voice speaks. “This is a test of the Home Safety Broadcast System.” The screen flickers.

Timecode jumps backward. “If you are seeing this message, you are already inside.”

Static swallows the audio. When it clears, the voice is closer. “Do not look at

the corners of your room.” A child’s face flashes for one frame. It is smiling incorrectly.

“If you hear breathing, it is not yours.” The warning symbol melts. The screen goes

black. Text appears, letter by letter. YOU WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO REMEMBER US.

The tape ends. Your TV stays on.
