House of the Dragon Ends at Season 4

House of the Dragon is ENDING with Season 4. Not cancelled—planned. Westeros has an

official end date! Showrunner Ryan Condal revealed on a podcast that the Game of Thrones

prequel will wrap up with its fourth season, saying they’ve “started the writing process

for Season 4, which will be the last one.” Season 3 has already finished filming,

with Condal calling it the biggest, most exhausting season yet—but he’s “feeling very bullish”

after seeing early footage. With Season 3 hitting HBO this year and the show on a two‑year

cycle, Season 4 is expected to shoot around 2027 for a 2028 release,

letting them “leave it all out on the field” and finish the Targaryen civil war properly.
