Most drivers treat roundabouts like four way stops and that's why traffic backs up and accidents
happen. Roundabouts are designed to keep traffic flowing at 15 to 20 miles
per hour without anyone stopping if used correctly. The golden rule is yield,
not stop. As you approach, look left for vehicles already in the circle. If there's a gap,
merge smoothly without stopping. Stopping when the circle is clear causes rear end
collisions and defeats the entire purpose. Think of it like merging onto a highway, just at slower speed.
Lane selection happens before you enter. If you're taking the first exit, use the right lane.
Going straight or to the second exit, either lane works but right is safer. Taking the third
