I get asked a lot, "Should I use hot or should I use cold on an injury or on pain?"
For acute sports injuries, i.e. you've rolled your ankle, if you go anywhere,
they will tell you to put ice on it. Now, strictly speaking, to control pain,
ice is very, very useful. There is some suggestion that it has some job in controlling
inflammation as well. There is debate about how effective it does that.
Unfortunately, more recently, we've had literature indicate that we need to change the
way we think about using ice or any anti-inflammatory strategy in an acute injury,
i.e. in a, in a, for example, a twisted ankle or a cricked neck
