Iraq could fix its water crisis by trading crude oil for a massive two hundred billion
dollar infrastructure overhaul. A new master plan proposes building giant desalination
plants and dams on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to secure water for the whole country
by 2036. We are talking about storing over two hundred billion cubic meters of
water to stop the shortages forever. The price tag is insane at 195 billion dollars,
but they aren't paying cash. The deal involves shipping over three hundred thousand
barrels of oil every single day for forty years just to keep the taps running.
