Issey Miyake was more than a fashion designer — he was an innovator who reshaped the way
we think about clothes. Born in Hiroshima in 1938, Miyake was just seven years old
when the atomic bomb fell on his city. The devastation could have broken
anyone, but Miyake chose the opposite path — to create beauty in a world that
desperately needed it. He studied graphic design and then fashion,
using his understanding of form and movement to create clothing that was art yet wearable.
He didn't just design outfits — he engineered experiences. His groundbreaking “Pleats Please”
line transformed fabric through technology, allowing clothes to maintain shape and flow effortlessly.
