faces a devastating crisis. Pirates and slave traders terrorize coastal villages,

kidnapping thousands of Koreans to sell in Chinese markets. Among these victims is a young boy named

Gungbok, who will later become known as Jang Bogo. Born in the 8th century,

Jang was sold and shipped across the Yellow Sea. He witnessed firsthand the brutal slave

trade that devastated Korean coastal villages. Gungbok trains relentlessly in martial arts and military strategy.
