Jonah: Running, Redemption, and Mercy

The story of Jonah is often remembered for the whale, but the real message goes much deeper—it’s

about obedience, resistance, and God’s relentless mercy. Jonah was a prophet

chosen by God and given a clear assignment: go to the city of Nineveh and warn the people to turn

from their wicked ways. Instead of obeying, Jonah ran in the opposite direction.

He boarded a ship headed far away, believing he could escape God’s presence. But a violent storm

arose, threatening the lives of everyone on board. Jonah knew the storm

was a result of his disobedience, and he asked the sailors to throw him into the sea.
