Joseph’s Rise Before Pharaoh

JOSEPH — The Day the Palace Called Genesis 41 Two full years passed, and Joseph was still

in prison. Then Pharaoh dreamed. The Bible says Pharaoh stood by the river, and in his dream

seven well favoured kine came up, followed by seven lean ones that devoured them.

Then he dreamed again of seven full ears of corn swallowed by seven thin ears blasted with the

east wind. Pharaoh awoke troubled, for no one in Egypt could explain what the dreams meant

(Genesis 41:1–8). That was when the chief butler remembered Joseph. He spoke to Pharaoh

of a Hebrew servant in the prison who had interpreted dreams, and whose words
