Kendrick Lamar's Buried Music Video Secret

One of Kendrick Lamar's most iconic tracks has a fully finished music video that was intentionally

buried by his own record label. Back in 2012, the hype for good kid,

m.A.A.d city was building, and Interscope was fighting over the lead single.

The choice was between The Recipe featuring Dr. Dre and Swimming Pools. DJ Mormile,

the executive running the show, knew deep down that Swimming Pools was the career-changing

hit, but label politics forced them to lead with the Dre collaboration. So Mormile did something

unheard of. He approved a massive budget to shoot a high-end video for The Recipe,

explicitly telling his team that it would probably never see the light of day.
