Kmart is trialling a self-service “click and collect” kiosk system at a store in Melbourne (Eastland,
Ringwood) that uses warehouse robotics to bring the customer’s online order to a pickup kiosk.
The system is designed to make pickup simple: customers go to a self-service kiosk in-store,
scan their order information, then a robot retrieves the items and delivers them to the kiosk.
For bulky or large items, Kmart has a “select and collect” kiosk plus a “direct to
boot” service — so customers don’t have to carry heavy items around the store.
This trial is part of a broader in-store layout redesign and experimentation with store formats,
as Kmart adjusts how it handles stock, collection, and buying patterns.
