On Christmas morning, Elenore rose. Put on her husband's old wool coat. She thought about
the grudge she'd held. Against the doctor who had failed. To save her husband's
life that night. But standing in the morning light. She let that ancient anger go.
And left bread at his door below. The preacher spoke of gifts and kings. But Elenore thought
of other things. When Jesus said, "Forgive them, please." And Marcus wrote,
"Remember these." That anger chains the angry heart. And freedom comes when we depart.
From needing others to be good. The stoic and the Christ agree. Forgiveness is what
sets us free.
