April 1775. Tensions between colonists and British rule reached a breaking
point. British troops in Boston planned to seize colonial military supplies in Concord.
But patriot riders, including Paul Revere, warned the militias with their urgent alarms.
At dawn, British troops arrived at Lexington Green, met by local militia.
A shot rang out. The first skirmish of the revolution had begun.
The British pushed on to Concord, seeking to destroy the colonial arsenal. At Concord's Old
North Bridge, the militiamen stood their ground. The British were forced to retreat,
harassed by colonial minutemen. The running battle continued for miles, all the way
