Man Found Dead in Westheimer Sewer

On December 30, 2025, HPD units responded to a report of a displaced manhole

cover and noxious odors at the 1400 block of Westheimer Road. Approximately 18

feet below street level, in a 60-inch combined sewer main, they located the

body of an adult male later identified as Gerald Remover. The victim was found partially submerged

in a liquid tested positive for high concentrations of illegal industrial discharge consistent

with undocumented dumping reported in this aging sewer segment. The victim’s clothing

had been almost completely dissolved from the waist down. Extensive chemical burns covered 90%

of the body: Lower extremities: Most tissue dissolved to expose muscle and bone.
