Mechanoneural interfaces for bionic integration Growing knowledge in peripheral nerve regeneration and

soft tissue reconstruction has enabled a novel development of tissue constructs combined with artificial

interfacing technologies with the purpose of giving sensation to limb prostheses. Afferent and efferent

signalling pathways are used in such a way that mechanoneural interfaces have demonstrated a capability

to enhance prosthetic control and convey somatosensory sensation. First and foremost, what is a mechanoneural

interface? It combines surgically modified assemblies of soft tissues containing nerves
