Mercy That Silences Accusers

At dawn, Jesus returned to the temple courts. The people gathered around Him as He

sat down to teach. Suddenly, the religious leaders interrupted. They dragged a woman

forward — humiliated, exposed, trembling. “Teacher,” they

said, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The Law of Moses

commands us to stone such women. What do You say?” It was a trap. If Jesus showed

mercy, they could accuse Him of breaking the Law. If He condemned
