Midnight Wishes and Lasting Friendships

Midnight hit and my phone lit up with her message wishing me happy birthday.

She was the first person to remember. I couldn't stop smiling reading her words over and

over. Next morning she texted me to meet at our usual park. When I got there

I froze. She had set up everything. Balloons tied to the bench. A small cake with

candles already flickering in the breeze. Wrapped gifts sitting beside her.

She just smiled and said make a wish. We talked for hours about everything

and nothing. Laughed until our stomachs hurt. She knew exactly what this day needed

to be. No fancy restaurant or big party. Just us. Just her remembering
