Mysteries of the Lost City of Mohenjo Daro Did you know that one of the world’s

oldest civilizations mysteriously disappeared over 4,000 years ago? Mohenjo Daro was

part of the Indus Valley Civilization, which flourished around 2500 BCE in what is now Pakistan.

The city was incredibly advanced for its time: it had well planned streets, a sophisticated

drainage system, and even public baths. Houses were built from uniform baked

bricks, and many had private wells and bathrooms showing that sanitation and urban planning

were highly developed. Archaeologists still don’t know exactly why the civilization vanished.

Theories include climate change, devastating floods, disease, or shifts in the
