Napoleon accidentally triggered the biggest wave of revolutions in Latin America just by being greedy.
When he took over Spain, the colonies finally snapped. They were already
sick of a toxic class system where only Spanish-born Peninsulares had rights,
while Creoles and Indigenous people got nothing. It started in Haiti where Toussaint
Louverture led the only successful slave revolt in history against the French.
Then Simon Bolivar and San Martin swept through South America liberating countries, while Father Hidalgo
rallied Mexico. Within a decade, the map completely changed, forcing the US to
tell Europe to back off for good.
