Napoleon’s Rise and Fall

Napoleon Bonaparte rose from a general to the emperor of France. He conquered most

of Europe and seemed unstoppable. But ambition pushed him too far. His invasion of

Russia in 1812 was a disaster. Cold, hunger, and enemy attacks

destroyed his army. Other nations united against him. After defeat, Napoleon was exiled,

escaped, and lost again at Waterloo in 1815. He was sent to a remote island,

where he died alone. Power faded faster than it rose.”
