In 1889, a 25 year old journalist named Nellie Bly walked into her editor's office
with an impossible pitch. She wanted to beat the fictional record from Jules Verne's
famous novel and travel around the entire world in less than 80 days. Everyone thought
she was crazy. Women didn't travel alone back then, and the journey seemed impossible.
But Nellie didn't care what people thought. She packed one small bag and left New
York with nothing but determination. She traveled by steamship across the Atlantic,
took trains through Europe, crossed stormy seas to Asia, and rode rickshaws
through muddy roads. Every delay could ruin her record. Every missed connection meant failure.
