Not Easy Being Green

I walk through the woods where the shadows lean. My heart is big, but my face is mean.

I smile. They run. It's the same routine. Oh, why can't they see?

It's not easy being green. Not easy being seen. They only see the beast,

not the soul in between. Got hands that build and a voice that hums,

but they just hear the battle drums. I plant wild flowers, I carve the trees, but they look at

me like a disease. They scream when I try to say hello. I'm not the monster they think they

know. It's not easy being green. Not easy being seen. I'm not a nightmare,

just a dream unseen. I'd trade my tusks for a friendly grin, trade my roar for a violin.
