Nuclear Plans for the Moon

In the 1950s, the U.S. almost nuked the Moon. Yup,

you heard that right. During the Cold War, America was so eager to flex its muscles

against the Soviet Union that they dreamed up Project A119 - a plan to drop a nuclear bomb

on the Moon. The goal? To create an explosion visible from Earth, showcasing U.S.

power in space. Believe it or not, even a young Carl Sagan was involved in this wild idea.

But the plan was ditched over fears of a potential fallout backfiring. For a brief moment,

the Moon nearly became our bomb-testing playground. And speaking of bombs,
