Octopus Hearts: A Unique Adaptation

Octopuses have three hearts and blue blood, but here's the wildest part.

Two hearts pump blood to their gills while one pumps it to the rest of their body.

But when they swim, the heart that delivers blood to the body actually stops beating. That's why octopuses

prefer crawling over swimming because swimming literally exhausts them. Their blood is blue

because it contains copper instead of iron, which helps them survive in cold,

low oxygen ocean waters. So basically, octopuses sacrifice their main heart

just to move through water. Nature really said pick your struggle.
