Parenting in the Age of AFK

My daughter announced she was "AFK" in real life today and I genuinely didn't know how

to respond. I asked her to help me bring in groceries and she didn't move, didn't look up,

just said "I'm AFK." I told her she couldn't be AFK because she was literally standing in the kitchen.

She sighed like I was the problem and explained that AFK means she's mentally away even

if her body is still here. Then she stood up, walked two steps, stopped,

looked me straight in the eyes and said, "Okay, I'm back now."

I don't know when parenting turned into multiplayer mode, but apparently my

child can log out of reality at will and I'm expected to just wait for her to respawn.
