Think of partial authorization like this: instead of a straight decline when the card doesn’t

have enough balance, the bank approves whatever funds are available. The merchant takes

that amount and then asks the customer for the rest. It improves approval rates and reduces

checkout drop-offs. From our side, it’s a flag in the payment request we need to enable,

but it’s optional and depends on issuer support. Not all banks handle it yet—Checkout.com

mentions Amex US is still in beta. So bottom line: better customer experience,
