Peanut-Induced Anaphylaxis Treated with Epinephrine

Adam is 3-year-old boy is brought to the Emergency Department with acute swelling of the lips difficulty

breathing, and widespread itchy hives According to his mother, he had just attended

a birthday party where he consumed peanut butter, and his symptoms started within minutes

of ingestion. On examination, he shows signs of airway involvement and systemic allergic

reaction, consistent with anaphylaxis. He is promptly treated with an intramuscular

injection of adrenaline (epinephrine) using an EpiPen, which leads to rapid clinical improvement.
