Pete Townshend spoke openly about the relationship between The Who and Led Zeppelin.

He remembered the time when The Who were recording Who’s Next at Olympic Studios,

a moment when heavy rock music was changing fast and new bands were rising quickly. Townshend said,

“I think by that time, we’d become aware that Led Zeppelin was snapping at

our heels, and eventually, of course, in heavy rock terms, overtook the Who.”
