Poltergeist arrived in 1982 and became every child's worst nightmare. Kids thought their
toys were safe, their TVs were harmless. Then they watched that little girl get sucked into
a television screen by vengeful spirits. Clown dolls came alive. Trees grabbed children
through windows. A man ripped his own face apart in the mirror. Theaters reported
kids vomiting and crying uncontrollably. Parents had to remove TVs from bedrooms because children
refused to sleep near them. Toy stores saw kids terrified of clown dolls for years
afterward. The film was rated PG, so parents brought young children thinking
