Quebec Bans Face Coverings in Schools

Quebec just made it illegal for students and staff to cover their faces in schools. The government extended

its 2019 secularism law with Bill 94, which now bans all religious symbols and face coverings

for everyone in the education system. This means no hijabs, no turbans, nothing that covers

your face or displays religious identity. The English Montreal School Board is calling this out,

saying it targets the most vulnerable students. Critics argue this goes way beyond

secularism and crosses into discrimination. Quebec is defending it as protecting state neutrality,

but thousands of students could be directly affected by this controversial new rule.
