Reflections of Fear

You know that feeling... like you're not quite alone in your own house? Last night,

I woke up thirsty. Groggy, I shuffled to the kitchen for water. As I passed the

living room, a shadow flickered. Just the streetlights, I told myself. But then I saw it.

My own front door, ever so slightly ajar. I knew I’d locked it.

Every night. Slowly, I peered through the crack. And saw myself.

Standing perfectly still in the hall. Watching the kitchen. Watching me. But my eyes… they

were too wide. And that smile. It wasn’t mine. Did I ever make it out of bed?
