Refusing to Swap Paid Window Seat

I paid extra for a window seat on a 6-hour flight because flying makes me anxious and having

the window helps me stay calm. When I got to my seat, everything was fine

until a woman tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I would switch seats so she could sit next

to her boyfriend. She pointed to her assigned seat, which was a middle seat several rows

back. I told her politely that I’d rather not because I specifically paid for this seat.

She sighed loudly and said it “wouldn’t kill me to be nice.” A flight attendant came over but told

us it was my choice. The rest of the flight felt awkward, and I caught people looking at me like

I’d done something wrong. Am I the a-hole?
