Remote Job Turned Office Requirement

So my permanent remote job turned out not to be permanent after all A few days ago,

my manager pulled me into a surprise Teams meeting. She told me that the entire department

is required to return to the office, five days a week. This is a complete 180 from what I

was told when I was hired, which was that the position was fully remote.

She then asked if I had any concerns about the new policy. I was honest with her and told her

that I don't have a car and the commute is about 50 miles one way for me. She replied coldly

Your transportation is your personal responsibility, not the company's. She ended the call

right after that, before I even had a chance to answer. Honestly, I was shocked and
