Your innocent vacation photos are actually deeply offensive to the people watching you take them.
In the ancient Thai city of Ayutthaya, the locals are dealing with a brutal trade-off. They rely on the
cash tourists bring, but they are watching their sacred home turn into a disrespectful playground.
Westerners are climbing on holy stupas and sticking their heads on headless Buddha statues for a laugh.
To you, it’s a cool ruin, but to them, it’s a living spiritual site.
The craziest part is that Thai culture values being polite so much, they often won't
tell you to stop. Just because no one is yelling at you doesn't mean you aren't ruining
the vibe.
