Rosa Parks and the Bus Boycott

Rosa Parks wasn't just tired from work that day on the bus. She was tired of

giving in. Most people don't know she was a trained activist and NAACP secretary,

not just a seamstress. And she wasn't even the first. Fifteen year old Claudette Colvin

refused to give up her seat months before Rosa. But Rosa sparked something bigger.

Her arrest led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Black Americans walked for 381 days,

crippling the bus system's economy. That's when the government realized segregation was

costing them money. And money always wins.
